Australians are clawing back the wealth they lost in the global financial crisis. The average person is $1,100 richer, with net personal financial wealth now $46,000 per person, up almost 1% over three months. But it is still 20% below the 2007 peak before the financial meltdown. The Australian Bureau of Statistics figures measure financial assets such as bank deposits, superannuation and shares, minus any borrowings. It does not include housing or property values.
