Mining entrepreneur Andrew Forrest, founder of Fortescue Metals, has donated 1,000 mobile homes to help create a temporary township at Maryville, which was destroyed by bush fires early in February. The first 40 mobile homes, normally used to accommodate mining workers in Western Australia, arrived in Victoria on 27 February – having been brought across the Nullarbor Plain by train.
