City of Ryde - North Shore of Sydney, NSW
In keeping with current Sydney trends, the property market in the City of Ryde has undergone a price correction, though sales activity and long-term growth averages remain strong.
This municipality includes one of the Australia’s leading high-technology commercial precincts, as well as major medical and educational facilities. Facilities and amenities are being enhanced through major urban renewal developments, led by the $500 million Top Ryde Shopping Centre project, which is part of a larger re-development of Ryde Town Centre.
Major transport projects are also coming on line. The first section of the massive Sydney Metro train network - the Metro North West Line – began operations in May 2019. The train now stops at 13 stations in Sydney’s north, including Macquarie University, Macquarie Park and North Ryde.
Another significant move is the two-year freeze on new rezoning applications for residential construction, while a review of the City of Ryde’s planning laws is undertaken. This is likely to reduce vacancies and underpin property values in the area.
This report covers the suburbs of Eastwood, Gladesville, North Ryde, Ryde, West Ryde and Macquarie Park.
