City of Ryde - North Shore of Sydney, NSW
The property market in the City of Ryde is proving resilient, with sales numbers for both houses and units holding up strongly. The more affordable homes in the apartment sector are attracting buyers and prices here are generally resisting the downward trend across the Sydney metropolitan area.
This municipality includes one of the Australia’s leading high-technology commercial precincts, as well as major medical and educational facilities. Facilities and amenities are being enhanced through major urban renewal developments, led by the $500 million Top Ryde Shopping Centre project, which is part of a larger re-development of Ryde Town Centre.
The Ryde precinct is in a state of flux as infrastructure tries to keep pace with extensive residential construction. The tangible appearance of excavation and tunnel boring on the Sydney Metro Northwest is evidence that transport projects are under way to service the growing region.
Another significant move is the two-year freeze on new rezoning applications for residential construction, while a review of the City of Ryde’s planning laws is undertaken. This is likely to reduce vacancies and underpin property values in the area.
This report covers the suburbs of Eastwood, Gladesville, North Ryde, Ryde, West Ryde and Macquarie Park.
