City of Salisbury - Northern Suburbs of Adelaide, SA
The City of Salisbury is going through a mini-construction boom as medium-scale projects generate thousands of jobs, driving the economy forward into 2020.
Salisbury Council says projects totalling $400 million have either been recently completed, are under construction or are awaiting planning approval, while a further $220 million worth of medium-sized developments are proposed.
Proximity to major employment nodes is a key part of the Salisbury appeal. Food and beverage manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, defence, cybersecurity and space are emerging industries in the area, attracting businesses and generating jobs.
As an example, the former Holden manufacturing site in Elizabeth has new tenants and is on its way to becoming a high-tech manufacturing hub which will accommodate 1,600 new jobs.
The expanding Edinburgh Defence precinct is a huge employment node, which is attracting major government investment.
All this activity has buoyed the property market - auction clearance rates and rents are rising while vacancy rates are extremely low, providing opportunities for entry-level investors attracted by the affordable house prices.
This report includes the suburbs of Burton, Elizabeth Park, Hillbank, Ingle Farm, Parafield Gdns, Paralowie, Pooraka, Salisbury, Salisbury Downs, Salisbury East and Salisbury North.
