CITY OF MANNINGHAM - Metropolitan Melbourne, VIC
Melbourne’s population is projected to grow from 4.3 million to 7.7 million by 2050, which has prompted the State Government to create major growth management strategies.
Under Plan Melbourne 2050, several major Metropolitan Activity Centres have been identified to cope with the anticipated growth, including in the City of Manningham.
Transport upgrades are a priority and the proposed North East Link would complete the ring road between the Eastern Freeway and the M80 Ring Road, connecting the growing northern and south-eastern suburbs.
Longer term, there is provision in the transport planning for a new train line from the Melbourne CBD to Doncaster.
Such improvements would dovetail with State Government planning to have high-density housing near railway stations to make commuting to work easier.
Doncaster is undergoing a renaissance with extensive residential construction. At present, there are 25 residential projects (mostly mid-rise) either proposed, approved or under construction.
At the same time the key suburbs of the Manningham LGA have recorded significant growth in dwelling prices in the past 3-4 years.
This report covers the suburbs of Bulleen, Doncaster, Doncaster East, Donvale, Templestowe and Templestowe Lower
