Melton LGA - North-Western suburbs of Melbourne
The population of the City of Melton is expected to triple in the next 25 years, as this rapidly-growing municipality captures a growing share of Melbourne’s expansion.
Located between 20km and 50km north-west of the Melbourne CBD, suburbs in the city of Melton are rapidly becoming absorbed into the urban sprawl of Greater Melbourne.
New suburbs are being formed to accommodate extensive population growth, attracting young families because of housing affordability and the ease of commuting to major jobs nodes.
A $518 million upgrade to the Ballarat train line - which includes line duplication, passing loops, stabling yards, a new train station at Toolern and upgrades to other stations - will reduce travel times to Melbourne via Melton. A train station was opened in 2017 at Caroline Springs, a suburb of the Melton LGA.
The area has large tracts of undeveloped land and by 2041, the LGA population is projected to reach more than 380,000. Included in the plans for the evolving communities are commercial centres and schools which are expected to generate around 52,000 jobs.
With this level of planning and activity, there are opportunities for both investors and home buyers - especially first-home owners.
This report covers Brookfield, Burnside Heights, Caroline Springs, Hillside, Kurranjang, Melton, Melton South, Melton West, Plumpton and Taylors Hill.
