The City of Cockburn’s transformation from industrial roots to a vibrant and growing residential region can no longer be ignored. With the re-zoning of large tracts of land, this LGA is proactively courting population growth.
The State Government is supporting the urbanisation by spending $3.6 billion on improved rail services to the southern suburbs of Perth. This includes three new train stations which will better connect residents of Cockburn with Fremantle, the Perth CBD and Perth Airport, making it easier for residents to commute for work and leisure.
The State Government’s development body - LandCorp - is redeveloping North Coogee over 15–20 years to create 5,000 homes, while Port Coogee marina is being upgraded with extra berths and new commercial and retail precincts.
While the Perth property market struggles to evolve from downturn to recovery, the City of Cockburn is worthy of consideration by investors because of its potential for future growth, especially while prices remain affordable.
Several suburbs in the LGA on a growth trajectory, including Aubin Grove, Coolbellup, Hamilton Hill, Munster, Success and North Coogee. Spearwood in particular stands out with steady rises in sales numbers in recent quarters.
