Over 1,200 new jobs are expected to be created this year by construction work on the new $620 million army base at Edinburgh in Adelaide. The army’s 7RAR mechanized battalion is moving from Darwin to Adelaide in 2011 and Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was on site this week to “turn the first sod”. The site will eventually house 1,200 troops, with an estimated 815 family members to be relocated to Adelaide as well.
