Private bidders will be invited to run Victoria's new $1 billion cancer centre after the Victorian Government decided to deliver the project as a public-private partnership to make it more cost-effective. The new facility in Parkville will replace the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and bring together cancer research and treatment institutes. It will be jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Victorian governments, each contributing $426 million. The remaining $147 million will be drawn from the sale of surplus land, philanthropic donations and other project partners.
