Lachlan Murdoch has bought the former French Consulate in Sydney's eastern suburbs for $23 million. He beat nine other registered bidders to the Bellevue Hill property, including actor Russell Crowe. The property, a six-bedroom residence with views from Sydney Harbour to the Pacific Ocean, was expected to sell for at least $15 million, but bidding opened at $18 million. The 4,000m2 Victoria Road property, named Le Manoir, includes a tennis court, swimming pool, five bathrooms, two studies, a guest powder room, a large reception hall and a commercial-size kitchen.
