QCG Pty Limited, a BG Group business, has announced contract commitments of more than $3 billion for its Queensland Curtis LNG Project at Gladstone. Premier Anna Bligh says BG Group is a leading player in the global energy market and the State Government has been working with QGC and other LNG project proponents to create a coal-seam-gas-to-LNG industry in Queensland. Bligh says orders are expected to be placed for materials and equipment for gas field development and a 540km underground pipeline network to transport gas from QGC’s acreage in southern Queensland to Gladstone. Construction will begin after BG Group has made a final investment decision on the Queensland Curtis LNG Project later this year following receipt of Queensland and Federal Government environmental and regulatory approvals. The project remains on track to begin production in 2014.
