$50 million worth of new hotel accommodation is under construction in Hobart, with more slated for the near future. The projects have been welcomed by the Tourism Industry Council which says the additional accommodation will meet the current shortfall during Hobart's summer events season. Key players include Sultan Holdings which is behind the 80-room hotel on the old Agricultural Bank site - and hopes to build a $15 million 78-room hotel and caravan park at the Hobart airport and a $90 million multi-use development in Salamanca.
