Port Adelaide’s $178 million Diver Derrick Bridge will open on 1 August following an official blessing by Pope Benedict during his recent visit. The project, three years under construction, will provide freight and heavy transport with a direct route to port facilities, opening the opportunity for further Port development. The bridge, high enough to allow access to a Navy frigate, has pedestrian and cycle ways and a viewing platform.
