Adelaide rental market remains tight

Posted on 1/12/2009

Rental accommodation supply remains tight in Adelaide, with vacancies steady to 1.2% in October.

The Real Estate Institute of South Australia (REISA) says the residential vacancy rate has not risen above 2% for four years.

The REISA says demand for rental properties is expected to increase over the next couple of months as people set themselves up for 2010.

The vacancy rate survey is divided into six main areas. The only region to record a vacancy rate above 1.5% was the Hills district, at 2.4%.

The statistics for October 2009 were:

City: 0.3%

West: 1.0%

South: 1.5%

East: 1.4%

North: 1.1%

Hills: 2.4%
