Australia, boosted by 3 key factors, could avoid recession

Australia may avoid a recession in 2009, according to CommSec chief economist Craig James. He says that although the US, Japan and Germany are already in recession, Australia could have its 18th consecutive year of growth as the economy is supported by interest rate cuts and government stimulus programs. James says no other country has received the same economic boost from three factors - government spending, lower interest rates and a cheaper currency.
