BHP advances $4bil project

BHP Billiton will spend $300 million to accelerate development of the $4 billion Caval Ridge coal mine and the Hay Point Coal Terminal expansion in Central Queensland. A rebound in prices of coking coal, or metallurgical coal, used to make steel, is expected to underpin an investment boom in Queensland. The global financial crisis stalled the development in July but BHP is now keen to push it along.
