BHP expands Port Hedland

BHP has secured an agreement with the WA Government to expand Port Hedland's inner harbour, increasing its iron ore export capacity from 155 million tonnes per annum to 240 mtpa. The announcement did not include any details about BHP's plans for the Port's outer harbour expansion (the subject of intense industry speculation). Fortescue Metals Group has also completed its own port facilities which will eventually move up to 200 mtpa.
