Bligh faces voter mutiny over duty

POLITICIANS think the great Australian dream starts and ends with a first-home purchase. They're wrong, as Queensland Premier Anna Bligh will find out at the next state election.

Bligh and her State Treasurer Andrew Fraser have just brought down a budget that includes a boost for first-home buyers and a slug on other home buyers. The state government has doubled stamp duty paid when people buy a home, other than a first home.
