Brumby oversees Melbourne's $20bil transport plan

Posted on 31/05/2008
Victorian Premier John Brumby will personally oversee the development of Melbourne's new $20 billion transport overhaul. The plan, a response to Sir Rod Eddington's east-west transport enquiry, is expected to include a raft of changes aimed at meeting the demands of a population growing by 1,000 people a week. It will address new land reservations for future road and rail growth, better links between transport modes, projects suitable for federal funding and greenhouse gas emissions from transport.
