City's house prices will ride the boom

ANYONE impatient for wider benefits from resources activity might consider Toowoomba. Businesses are expanding as the impending boom in the neighbouring Surat Basin generates increased money flow.

Toowoomba, Queensland's largest inland city with a population of about 130,000, already has plenty going for it. It has the economic diversity I like in an investment destination, with strong elements of agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and community services.

It has resolved its water supply issues with a $200 million pipeline to Wivenhoe Dam and looks to have a vibrant future, notwithstanding the tragedy brought by the January flood.
