Impact study delays ACT power station

The ACT government has called for an environmental impact study for the $1 billion gas-fired power station and data centre planned for Tuggeranong. The study will delay any decision on the power station until after the Territory's election in October - a move project opponents claim is an attempt to avoid voter backlash. ACT Planning Minister Andrew Barr says the study is an example of a transparent and open planning process.
