Margaret River set to double: wine growers concerned

Posted on 20/04/2009

The size of Margaret River in the south-west of WA is expected to double under development plans that are being opposed by the area’s established wine growers, who want buffer zones between farming land and urban areas. Developer Nigel Satterley has bought a 324ha farm just outside Margaret River. The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River has received 300 submissions on its draft planning strategy which outlines development of the town over the next 25 years.
