The WA Government is pushing for the $4 billion Oakajee port and rail development to be completed ahead of schedule, now that final environmental approvals have been given for the Mid-West iron ore project. Gindalbie Metals and Chinese partner Ansteel plan to begin construction of the Karara mine, 225km east of Geraldton, later this year. The current plan for Oakajee suggests a construction start in 2011, for completion early in 2014.
