Rival bids surface in ACT data centre controversy

A consortium including Queensland’s Springfield Land Corporation has proposed a $500 million data centre for the ACT, challenging Technical Real Estate’s claims that a rejection of its $1billion Tuggeranong development would deter future investment in the ACT.  The new proposal requires a 7000m2 site for the data centre with a separate 250ha farm for solar-thermal generation that would provide up to 100MW back into the grid. Technical Real Estate earlier threatened to take its data centre plans out of the ACT if the Greens, who hold the balance of power in the ACT Assembly, voted against the proposal.
