South East Queensland will need 90 new homes per day for the next 20-25 years to handle its population growth, according to the State Government’s new regional plan. It has forecast that 735,000 new homes will need to be built by 2031. It wants half to be in higher-density development in existing suburbs, with the rest in new residential areas in the west and south of the region. The western corridor is forecast to grow twice as fast as Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
