South Burnett welcomes $1.2 bil wind farm

Posted on 16/08/2008

Developers are about to lodge applications with the Dalby and South Burnett regional councils in Queensland to build the largest wind farm power plant in the Southern Hemisphere.  The planned 252 turbines spread over 10 grazing properties will produce enough electricity for 320,000 homes. Landholders will receive tax deductible compensation of $10,000 per turbine each year, leaving farmers with 50 towers up to $500,000 better off each year.
