The $400 million Waubra wind farm in Victoria will begin operating in June. The 128-turbine operation, stretching from Learmonth to Landsborough, will be the biggest wind farm in the Southern Hemisphere. The project will generate 192 megawatts of power from turbines on land leased from farmers. The construction has provided 200 jobs and another 25 permanent jobs will be created when operating. A Community Development Fund also provides about $64,000 per year and will contribute more than $1.6 million to Waubra, north-west of Ballarat.
