The Australian wheat crop will come in at 22.7 million tonnes this season, a 6% rise on last year, according to the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics. The crop will be double that handled in 2006 and 2007, when many areas were drought-affected. The ABARE forecast suggests Australia will harvest 36 million tonnes of wheat, barley, oats, canola, lupins and cereals - up almost 10% on last year.
