Wind farms planned for SA

A 420megawatt wind farm is planned for the Woakwine Range in the south-east of South Australia. The Woakwine Wind Farm will be developed in three stages by Infigen Energy (formerly known as Babcock & Brown Wind Partners), close to the company’s existing Lake Bonney wind projects near Millicent. Infigen also has wind farms in WA and NSW. Elsewhere in SA, Roaring 40s has started work on a $190 million wind farm in the Clare & Gilbert Valleys area of SA. The joint venture company by Hydro Tasmania and the China Light Power Group has approval for 37 turbines in stage one and six more in stage two. The facility is expected to be operational by July 2010.
