New research by Logitech reveals 42% of Australians would even forgo a pay rise if it meant they could continue to work from home.
While the Exodus to Affordable Lifestyle had already started before the pandemic hit, work from home orders during lockdowns have enhanced the possibility of moving to a more affordable lifestyle location for many Australians over the past 18 months.
During Covid net migration to Australia’s regional areas has experienced the biggest increase since the Australian Bureau of Statistics started measuring internal migration in 2001.
More than 43,000 Australians moved to regional areas in 2020, driving up property prices in those locations and drastically reducing vacancy rates – with Melbourne experiencing the biggest shift of population.
That trend is expected to continue, even once lockdowns become a thing of the past.
Logitech’s research shows that many workers value flexibility over money, although more than half say their company hasn’t yet invested in technology to make video conferencing more effective from home.
Many respondents say they would be more productive working from home if they did have access to new technology.
